D005 → Into the Forest

A designed and illustrated feature for institutional magazine, Washington, created while an intern at the Washington University’s Marketing and Communications office. It adapts an article written by Terri Nappier with University approved photos. This project was overseen by Art Director, Jennifer Wessler. 

The article highlights Washington University affiliated projects that study the biodiversity within the nearby landscape of Forest Park. It was important that the article comply with the magazine’s photo-forward design approach while having unique elements as a feature.

 
I illustrated many different leaves of trees within Forest Park to help communicate the collecting and documentation described in the story. They were distributed throughout the layout to feel like pressed leaves scattered across the pages.
